The Hybrid Landscape

Two years ago I was driving through the desert when I came across two lonely porta-potties with a beautiful mountain vista behind them.  I was not only struck by why they were literally in the middle of nowhere but how the formal elements of the landscape and their box shape created an interesting composition.  This project uses the formal elements of line, shape, color and form to communicate an aesthetic experience.  To show that a pole is not just a pole but an intersection of lines, where it and the horizon meet.

Our landscape is now a hybrid of nature and the man-made, to the point that it is hard to see where one ends and the other begins.  Do we even know what the wilderness is anymore?  The Hybrid Landscape depicts the marriage of the manufactured and nature through form.
